The Galaxie 500 was a high end model of the popular Galaxie line. Galaxie competed directly with the Chevrolet Impala which reigned supreme as the king of 1960s family cars. The Galaxie first appeared in 1959 as a model on the full size Fairlane lineup. In 1962 the Fairlane name dropped down to the intermediate bodies and Galaxie became the name of all the full size Fords. Starting in 1962 the 500 name began to denote a Galaxie with plusher interior and more exterior trim.

1967 was the final year for the stacked headlights and the first for the pointed nose which was similar to what Buick did with their front end.

This car looks all original and still has its old California black license plate. The only missing item is the hubcaps which may have been removed to prevent theft.

This Galaxie must have spent a significant amount of its life garaged, because most California cars will show a typical pattern of burnt paint on roof, hood and decklid. Light colored cars reflect the UV rays a little better but after 45 years even white cars have scorched paint in California.

The rear of the car has a nice fastback design which made the family cars of the 1960s look quite sporty.
