Clarke Simpkins was a VP at Ford and began his dealership career in downtown Vancouver, BC carrying Ford and Mercury. Ford of Canada wasn't pleased with Simpkins stocking and selling English Fords. When Ford licensed Zephyr Motors to carry the full line of British Fords in 1958, Simpkins dropped Ford completely. This worked out well for Zephyr which exploded in size over the next few years. Simpkins did fine without Ford. Columbia Chrysler began as a New Westminster, BC dealership named Columbia Dodge Ltd. See the story under BC/ NEW WESTMINSTER Dealers in this DEALERSHIP section. Now located at 5840 Minoru Blvd, Richmond, B.C. the dealership is part of a group of 20 dealers collectively called Go Auto. Following the hot new trend, this dealer like many Chrysler dealers now carries Fiat as well.
In 2013, hidden in among a bunch of generic boxes on wheels sits a red Challenger.

Dennison Chevrolet Oldsmobile was located at 13100 Smallwood Place. Dennison Chevrolet Oldsmobile was established by Ray Dennison in the late 1960s at 5880 Number 3 Road in Richmond, BC. Ray Dennison had a recreation home in California and was inspired by an automall he saw in Carlsbad, California to propose the concept to his fellow Richmond dealerships. Dennison expanded and moved down the road into the newly created Richmond Auto Mall which opened Oct. 24, 1985. Gary Cowell, of the Cowell Auto Group, and Bill Hanbury the owner of Richport Ford Lincoln joined Ray in his new automall. With the death of Oldsmobile, the dealer name was shortened to Dennison Chevrolet Ltd. The dealership closed in 2010. The Rabbitats group operated out of a part of the Dennison facility from 2011 to 2014, gathering abandoned rabbits that had populated the automall. Landsdowne Pontiac Buick was located at 5900 Minoru Blvd, Richmond, BC. Jim Ratsoy's father was a car dealer from Alberta. Jim followed in his footsteps following his father's death. Jim took over the family business and eventually opened 4 dealerships in Richmond, B.C. Jim established his own Pontiac Buick dealership in Richmond, BC in 1957 at age 23. In later years he added a Cadillac and GMC franchise. Jim had a very highly regarded private car collection of over 100 historically significant cars. Some authorities rate it as the finest collection in Canada. Admission fees to view the collection were used to raise money for charity over the years, but Jim's weakening health forced him to sell off 100 of the older cars in Feb, 2015. The collection was sent to Beijing, China where they will be featured in a museum. Jim kept some of the modern driver cars. Jim has a website named grandpasoldcars.ca Jim Ratsoy also owned Lansdowne Saturn Saab at 5660 Minoru Blvd which was next door to the GM dealership. Originally known as Richmond Plymouth-Chrysler this dealership was located at 4440 No. 3 Road, Richmond, BC in the 1980s. With the demise of the Plymouth namebrand the dealership added some new franchises to become Richmond Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ltd. Above is a very old logo on the truck lip of a weather-beaten old 1970s Ford still on the road. Bill Hanbury established Richport Ford Lincoln down on Number 3 Road in 1972. William "Bill" Gordon Hanbury was born November 15, 1924. He married Janice who predeceased him. Along with Ray Dennison and Gary Cowell, Bill established the Richmond Auto Mall. Ray Dennison who owned Dennison Chevrolet Oldsmobile had a recreation home in California and was inspired by an automall he saw in Carlsbad, California to propose the concept to his fellow Richmond dealerships. Richport Ford Lincoln is located at 13580 Smallwood Place, Richmond, BC which is inside the Richmond Auto Mall. Bill died June 19, 2013. Bill Hanbury's grandson Jason Munden is general manager of the dealership.
Richport is an authorized SVT dealer. The two SVT musclecars available in 2012 are the Mustang Shelby GT500 and the truck version of muscle, the F150 SVT Raptor. The photo below shows a couple of Shelby's and Mustangs at the lot in March, 2013.
The black 2013 Shelby GT500 shown in front of the picture is a pretty loaded car as attested in the window sticker shown below.

The Cobra logo has been a constant on these cars since the first GT350s back in 1965. Note the functional vents inlaid into the hood for air intake.
The stripes and vents are less accentuated on the black car but easily visible on the sliver GT500 parked beside it.

The silver GT500 has red racing stripes over the top of the car and stripes along the rockers. Note the massive air intakes up front and the fat stripes.

The window sticker states that the Candy Red GT was shipped out May 4, 2012.
Richport also had some V6 Mustangs on the lot but even these were pretty impressive looking. The black 2013 Mustang V6 convertible shown below doesn't look like an economy car at all.

Signature Lincoln Mercury was located at 13800 Smallwood Place in Richmond, BC. In 2000 the location became Signature Mazda. At current writing in 2012 there is an active dealership in Perry, Michigan named simply Signature Ford. They are on 3942 W Lansing Rd (800) 393-6202.
